The Concrete Cows Tartan Army (C.C.T.A) is for the followers of the M.K.Dons football club, who were formely known as Wimbledon and moved to Milton Keynes in 2004. Believe it or not, one of the hardest parts of starting this faction of the famous Tartan Army was deciding on a name! Milton Keynes Tartan Army? Logical yes, however in the age old tradition of Tartan Army “clubs”, you simply cannot have a boring, normal name, examples being: Burst Balloons Tartan Army, Loony Alda, Dubai Tartan Taliban, along with many other gems, we simply couldn’t allow ourselves to break the mould, and finally after much debating and drinking, settled on the Concrete Cows.
So why Concrete Cows? Anyone who has ever passed through Milton Keynes on the train will have been subjected, knowingly or otherwise, to our world famous cows. Placed in a field by the railway lines as a tongue in cheek poke at the people who used to always say Milton Keynes was a concrete jungle, with no soul or character, well look at us now a thriving town with circa 230,000 residents and still growing.
The C.C.T.A. was only formed in September 2006, by a handful of us Scots chatting on the “Moocamp” the unofficial M.K. Dons forum. One of the lads had a Saltire that we could use and when we eventually came up with the name we had the flag printed with C.C.T.A so that we could display it at any game we go to.
So if or when you see the Concrete Cows Tartan Army, Saltire displayed at any Scotland games in the future you will know where we come from, “Were coming down the road” Mon the Scots
